The Fred Hollows Foundation is a global leader in eye health and international development.
Over the past 30 years, we have restored sight to more than 3 million people around the world and supported programs to deliver more than 200 million doses of antibiotics for trachoma.
But our work is not done.

Vision Loss
There are 43 million people in the world who are blind and another 1.1 billion are vision impaired. More than 90 per cent of vision loss is preventable or treatable and we can address it using existing highly cost-effective interventions.
For example, cataract is the leading cause of blindness can be treated with a straightforward 20-minute operation and cost as little as $25 in some countries.
Addressing Avoidable Blindness.
Our priority is to strengthen health systems and work with local communities to improve their own eye health. We do this through life-changing surgeries and treatments, training doctors and health workers, generating new ideas, and pushing for change at all levels – from local to global.
